NS Tri

Hi!

Hi there, I am the founder and head coach of NS Tri. First of all let me begin by saying that I hate this bit.... The "about me" section always fills me with dread!
Why? Well, I am not hear to talk about me, everything I do and believe in when I coach is you., the athlete, so talking about me always seems a little odd.
However, I ask myself, would I want to be coached by someone that I knew nothing about. The answer is simply, No! So sit back, grab a coffee and try to enjoy the next few paragraphs about me!
Who am I?
My name is Nathan Scott and I am a triathlon coach.
However, I am much more than that. I am a Dad and a Grandad, I am a loving partner and I am still a competitive triathlete. I love sport and it has been part of my life for so long that even if I do get any "spare" time, it is usually spent doing something active or in contrast relaxing with a glass of red in front of a good TV program!
My background is in running and my first 5km was waaaaaay back in 2005! I have taken part in Triathlon since 2012 and have been coaching since 2018. 2020 saw the birth of my online coaching (during Covid) and it has grown year on year since.

I have not always been a lover of sport and fitness and all things good and great. In 2004 I was given a stark warning by my doctor that if I didn't change my lifestyle then I'd be dead within 10 years! I was 21 stone and my idea of sport was playing Fifa! So I turned things around and I am proud of the changes I made and continue to make to ensure that I am fit and healthy and here to annoy my kids when I am older and greyer!

I love triathlon. I have had the honour to wear GB Age group colours a number of occasions across a fair few different age-groups and have completed multiple half, full and ultra endurance triathlons and single sport events.

As a coach I have had the absolute pleasure to see my athletes go from completing their first sprint triathlons, to qualifying for GB age group events, to picking up podium places and competing in world championship races on home soil and on distant shores. I genuinely get such a sense of happiness and thrill from watching my athletes race and a sense of real pride when their goals are achieved.

My coaching method is very simple, I know and appreciate that everyone has other things in their lives that are a priority over training. We have children, partners, jobs, other social commitments and sometimes, stuff that just gets in the way! That's life.
So my coaching is very much focused on fitting in training around real life, not the other way round! I make every session count and every session serves a purpose. I share my thinking with my athletes and have a very open and honest relationship with them to ensure they are getting what they need to ensure they are training to the best of THEIR unique ability and situation.

My sessions are delivered via training peaks and I don't believed in complicated and convoluted "levels" of coaching. I don't offer bronze, silver, gold, platinum, diamond or even kryptonite levels of coaching. It's one level, for all, and everyone gets my very best. Simply put, that's my promise to you and working together I know you will deliver your goals!

Why do I need a coach?

Well, simply put you don't.
That may sound like a really odd thing to say but it's true. There are resources out there on the internet that can be used and if you have the understanding and time to plan out you seasons then it is really rewarding. That's exactly how I got into coaching.

However, It's not always that easy! SO here is my top 5 reasons that you may want to engaged a coach.
